promotes health and hygiene on a daily basis.
Policy Aims
The staff
will take precautions throughout the day
by:
Educating the
children about hygiene and supervising toilet
visits and hand washing.
Using disposable aprons
and gloves while changing nappies, cleaning
the mat after each use and washing hands in-between.
Discouraging children from
putting toys, etc. into their mouths
Washing toys on a regular
basis
Cleaning work surfaces
regularly and before eating times with paper
towels and antibacterial spray.
Sterilising bottles, dummies
and teething aids daily.
Rationale
for prevention of infection
Parents
are asked to keep their child out of the
nursery according to the list of common
infections provided to all parents in the
full brochure and by adhering to the guidelines
for common ailments below recommended by
Environmental Health in the best interests
of the child and to protect other children.
Policy Aims
Exclusions:
Diarrhoea
or sickness - until 48 hours after it has
ceased
Sticky eyes
or conjunctivitis or until the child has been
treated for 24 hours
Rashes or
spots to be assessed individually and by a
doctor if necessary
Respiratory
infections for about 48 hours after treatment
Elevated temperature
with specific signs and symptoms until clinically
recovered.
